1 lb flour
14 oz sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp ground cinnamon
 pt milk
1 lb ghee or margarine
4 oz dried fruit


Parch flour to a light brown color. Stir constantly, pressing towards sides of pan to mash lumps. Mix sugar, egg, essence, spice, and milk in basin, until sugar is dissolved. Add sieved flour and stir until mixture is smooth. Heat fat. Add mixture and cook stirring constantly until mixture absorbs fat. Add fruit and cook until mixture holds together. Serves 12-16
